Impactful Change

Art on Board is a unique organization; combining physical, artistic, and entrepreneurial creativity with active community involvement to build strong individuals that will, in turn, build even stronger communities.

Action sports and the arts provide a phenomenal environment of community, creativity, belonging, friendship, and camaraderie.  Involvement in these activities teaches young artists and athletes lessons of persistence, healthy risk-taking, self-esteem, friendly competition, creative expression, and community building.  Art on Board has the goal of making these activities something that everybody is able to enjoy - especially those who normally would not have the chance.  We aim to promote a positive, inclusive, and entrepreneurial spirit that will benefit not only our nation's youth, but also their families and communities at large.

Active.

Physically & Mentally.  Whether on your board or on a canvas; in the city or in the wilderness - Art on Board promotes nonstop healthy activity.  As individuals become more active, they will naturally become more creative and more involved within their communities.

Creative.

The driving force behind Art on Board is a constant stream of artistic, athletic, and entrepreneurial creativity.  Something immediately evident to all who become involved with our program.

Involved.

It's not enough to simply be involved as an artist and an athlete.  Art on Board is involved in our communities as well.  Volunteering over 400 hours in the past year, we promote community involvement as heavily as any other aspect of our program.

OUR APPROACH

OUR APPROACH

Art on Board is inspiring the next generation of active, creative leaders.

Originally started as an entrepreneurship class project at the University of Vermont, Art on Board is quickly blossoming into a nationally-recognized, community-based youth development program.  By combining the active, creative lifestyles intrinsic to both the action sports and arts cultures, with hands-on community involvement, Art on Board aims to inspire the next generation of creative leaders.

Through our ongoing national tour, artist and brand collaborations, our own community involvement, and most excitingly, future plans for our very own youth engagement program, Art on Board will be creating impactful change for years to come.

Art on Board is currently led by founders Ben Weigher and Tim Andreasen - friends and classmates from the University of Vermont, who between them, have over four decades of active involvement within the action sports and arts communities.

We chose to work within the action sports and arts communities because of the start-from-nothing, DIY attitude that is so intrinsic to both. So many individuals who have become successful within this space have started with nothing more than a creative idea or passion, and gone on to create a lasting legacy. We have been fortunate enough to grow up in, and experience these cultures first-hand. They have molded us as individuals, and will continue to mold Art on Board as an organization. We realize how lucky we are, and believe it is never too early to start giving back.
